Looking for Technical Consultant

We are a small, passionate game development team working on an exciting project to bring the classic Nintendo NES game Crystal Mine to life once again. We've acquired the rights to the game and are embarking on a journey to both re-release it with major improvements and develop a completely new game based on the intellectual property. As we move forward, we are looking for an experienced Technical Consultant with a deep understanding of Nintendo NES development and the technical challenges involved in creating and releasing NES games on actual cartridges.

About Us:
We are currently a two-person team, learning the ropes of NES game development using NESFab—a programming language and toolchain we are actively using to bring Crystal Mine back to life. Our goal is to first develop a proof of concept re-release of the original game, featuring several quality-of-life improvements, and then progress toward creating an all-new game based on the IP. This new game will feature a fleshed-out backstory, enhanced graphics, and a wide range of exciting new gameplay features.

What We’re Looking For:
We are seeking a highly experienced NES developer who can act as a technical resource for our team. Ideally, the consultant will have a proven track record of working with Nintendo NES games, understanding the technical constraints of the system, and experience with releasing games on physical cartridges. Your role would primarily be to provide guidance and troubleshooting as we work through the development process and help ensure that our game is both technically solid and feature-rich.

Additional Skills and Interests:
Expertise in NES hardware and programming (preferably with experience in NES assembly, tile-based graphics, and sound programming).
Experience with NES cartridge releases—helping us understand the technical requirements for getting a game onto an actual NES cartridge.
Willingness to collaborate with the team to push the limits of NES hardware, similar to what was achieved with games like Former Dawn.
Ability to provide advice and resources for other aspects of game development, including graphics, music, and sound design.
Why Join Us?
We are located in Gillette, Wyoming, and are working on building a local game studio that focuses on publishing NES games—both our own and others’ projects. Our future plans include distributing our NES games via the Cardano network through their Hydra system, and we are eager to explore this cutting-edge opportunity. This is an exciting time for anyone passionate about retro gaming and blockchain technology.

We are committed to making Crystal Mine an exciting, innovative NES game that pushes the boundaries of what the system can do. If you are interested in collaborating on a creative, forward-thinking project that blends retro gaming with new technologies, we'd love to hear from you!

How to Apply:
If you are interested in providing technical assistance or would like to collaborate with us on this exciting project, please send an email to Starwander@Comcast.net. We are paying for these services and would bring any talent on as a 1099 contractor. Rate and or compensation can be discussed if you are interested.
