First post.
My goal: ability to make and play games that use 2 Zappers simultaneously, like Chiller. I'd also like decent analog video on a CRT.
I very much wish I could just get an AV Famicom and do the RGB Blaster thing, but the Famicom didn't support Zappers. There's a mod to get a single Zapper to work in the 2nd port, but it's a mystery if a mod could make the 1st port work too. So... my options:
===
Option 1: NES Front Loader + Everdrive N8 Pro
Pros: Cheapest option
Cons: Composite out
Option 2: NES Top Loader + 60/72 pin converter + RGB Blaster + Everdrive N8 Pro Fami
Pros: Component out, no jail bars, and future proof
Cons: Expensive, and will it work?
Option 3: NES Front Loader w/ a case mod + 60/72 pin converter + RGB Blaster + Everdrive N8 Pro Fami
Pros: Same as option 2 and a bit less expensive, potential to add ENIO audio expansion one day
Cons: I'd need to drill a hole through the top for the RGB cable
Option 4: NES Front Loader w/ NESRGB mod + Everdrive N8 Pro
Pros: Same as option 2
Cons: Extensive mod to the console, and just as expensive as option 3 or moreso
===
Any recommendations? I'm leaning toward option 3. There's a reddit post that shows this should work, but I don't know if that adapter is special or if it's just a 72/60 pin converter:
